The Corset- Throughout the nineteenth century, narrow waists were greatly admired. Women used corsets in an effort to get closer to a perfect physical form. This forcible distortion and squeezing of the body continued up until the beginning of the twentieth century.
This corset is from the 1880’s. Blue silk satin; Steel busk; bone.
